Dangerous Drugs - Dexedrine

In August of 2006, GlaxoSmithKline issued a warning regarding the popular ADHD drug Dexedrine. While the drug can be highly successful in combatting ADHD and narcolepsy, its risks are not insignificant. According to the FDA, dexedrine has been known to cause heart problems including increased blood pressure and heart rate, stroke and heart attack in adults, and sudden death in patients who have heart problems or defects.

The GlaxoSmithKline, along with the FDA, cautions that Dexedrine can be abused and lead to dependence. The drug has also been associated with psychiatric issues, including new or worsened behavior problems, thought problems, bipolar illness, aggressive behavior, and hostility in patients of all ages. For children and teenagers, the drug poses an added risk of new manic symptoms or psychotic symptoms, such as hearing voices or believing things that are not true.

More common side effects include a fast heart beat, decreased appetite, headache, dizziness, trouble sleeping, and tremors. The FDA cautions against prescribing the drug to anyone with heart problems, mental problems, Tourette's syndrome, thyroid problems, or seizures.

If you or a loved one has suffered an injury, illness or death, that seems to have been someone else's fault, call VanDerGinst Law at 1-866-843-7367 or click here for a FREE online case evaluation. So please call right away to ensure that you do not waive your right to possible compensation.
